Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started & Installation
How do I download and install the game?
The game comes as a prototype downloadable package. Follow these steps:
- Download the file named AI7_Echoes.zip.
- Unzip/Extract the file: Right-click the file and select "Extract All." This will create a new folder containing the game data.
- Open the new folder and run AI7_Ecos.exe to launch the game.
What operating system do I need?
Currently, the prototype is compatible only with Windows operating systems.
I tried to run the file, but Windows blocked it. What do I do?
This is normal for new software not yet registered with Microsoft. To proceed:
- Click More Info on the blue screen.
- Click Run Anyway.
Access Permission
When you start the game, a screen will ask for your permission for the game to connect to the AI assistant servers. Please click the "Allow" button to continue.
Troubleshooting: Microphone & Permissions
My microphone is plugged in, but the game can't hear me. This is usually because Windows Privacy settings are blocking the game from accessing your microphone. Since AI7 Echoes is a downloaded prototype (and not from the Microsoft Store), you must manually allow "Desktop apps" to use your mic.
How do I fix this on Windows 10?
- Open the Start Menu and select Settings (the gear icon).
- Go to Privacy > Microphone.
- Under "Allow access to the microphone on this device," click Change and switch it ON.
- Scroll down to "Allow desktop apps to access your microphone" (this is different from the list of Store apps at the top).
- Ensure this switch is turned ON.
How do I fix this on Windows 11?
- Open Settings and go to Privacy & security > Microphone.
- Turn ON "Microphone access" at the very top.
- Turn ON "Let apps access your microphone."
- Scroll down to the section "Let desktop apps access your microphone" and ensure it is switched ON.
I checked permissions, but it still won't work.
If permissions are correct, your computer might be trying to listen to the wrong device (e.g., a webcam mic instead of your headset).
Fix: Right-click the Speaker icon in your taskbar > Sound Settings. Under Input, make sure your headset is selected as the "Default Device."

Gameplay & Accessibility
Is the game really playable without sight?
Yes! AI7 Echoes is designed from the ground up to be fully playable using only 3D audio. There are no visual puzzles that require sight. All cues are auditory.
Do I need headphones?
Yes, headphones are highly recommended. The game uses binaural 3D audio to help you locate sounds in space (left, right, behind, etc.). Stereo speakers will work, but the experience will be much harder and less immersive.
How do I interact with the AI?
You talk to AI7 using your microphone. Just speak naturally! You can ask questions, describe what you hear, or propose solutions to puzzles. AI7 will listen and respond.
Technical Issues
The AI isn't responding to me.
Check your internet connection. AI7 requires an active connection to process your voice. Also, ensure you are holding the "Push-to-Talk" button (Spacebar) if that mode is enabled, or speaking clearly if in "Open Mic" mode.
Note: Avoid speaking while the AI is talking, as it may not hear you.
The game runs slowly or lags.
Ensure your PC meets the minimum requirements. Closing other background applications (especially web browsers with many tabs) can help free up memory for the game.
Why does the AI sometimes take a moment to reply?
AI7 is thinking! The system processes your speech, analyzes the context of the game, and generates a unique response. This can take 1-3 seconds depending on internet speed and server load.
Can I play offline?
No, an internet connection is required for the AI features to function.
Latency Issues
If you experience delays in AI responses, check your internet connection. A stable broadband connection is recommended for the best experience. High latency can cause pauses between your input and the AI's response.
Voice Recognition Accuracy
For the best voice recognition, use a good quality microphone and play in a quiet environment. Background noise can interfere with the AI's ability to understand you.
Data Privacy
Your voice data is processed securely and is not stored permanently. We prioritize your privacy and only use the data to generate the immediate game response.
Game Crashes
If the game crashes, please ensure your graphics and audio drivers are up to date. You can also try running the game as an administrator.
Input Lag
Input lag can be caused by Bluetooth headphones. If possible, try using a wired headset for the lowest latency audio experience.
AI Repetition
If the AI repeats itself, try rephrasing your question or statement. This can help nudge it out of a repetitive loop.
Audio Glitches
If you hear popping or crackling, check your audio sample rate settings in Windows. Setting it to 44.1kHz or 48kHz is recommended for best compatibility.
Game Length
The prototype level takes about 25-35 minutes to complete.
